Body type

Body type has several meanings

  1. A description of any kind of human body shape: slim, fat, tall, petite, wide-shouldered, pear shaped etcetera.
  2. A classification from the 1940s of humans into three different body types, sometimes used in modern weight training and exercise; see somatotype
  3. A classification system developed by Elliot Abravanel in the 1970's and 80's that classifies an individual based on his or her glandular metabolism.
