Bodhimanda

Bodhimanda is a Pali word that refers to the spot or seat under the Bodhi tree where the Buddha attained enlightenment. Its literal meaning is "place of enlightenment", and every Bodhisattva is said to occupy such a spot before becoming enlightened.
In Chinese Buddhism the term is translated as 金剛座 (jīngāng zuò) or 菩提道場 (pútí dàochǎng). The bodhimanda of Guanyin is said to be located on Putuoshan in Zhejiang province, and that of Manjusri on Wutaishan in Shanxi province.
