Božo Janković

Božidar "Božo" Janković (born May 22, 1951 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia — died November, 1993 in Kotor, Montenegro, FR Yugoslavia) was a Bosnian Serb football player.

He grew up in Sarajevo, where he was passing through FK Željezničar youth squads. He signed a professional contract at the age of 17 and he made his league debut in 1968-1969 season. He was a Yugoslav championchip joint topscorer in 1970-1971 season alongside Petar Nadoveza. He also played for Yugoslav national team.

He was at FK Željezničar for 11 years (256 league games, 96 goals) before he left to English side Middlesbrough FC in February of 1979. He played 42 games in two and a half seasons spent there. He scored 16 goals and he was a club topscorer in 1980-1981 season with 12 goals. At the end of the season, he surprised everyone as he decided to end his playing career and start a new one as a lawyer. However, he postponed that decision and signed a contract with FC Metz. This excellent finisher ended his career there.

He had returned to Sarajevo where he finally started his law practice. He was also a member of FK Željezničar board. He left the city after the start of War in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In November of 1993. he died from natural causes.
