[edit] Features

[edit] Safety

The BMW 550i ranks highly in crash tests[citation needed], in part because the driver's side has airbags which deploy from the forward-left and top-left. The passenger's seat is provided with a similar configuration. The back seat is protected by two optional airbags: one in the left door and one in the right door. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded the 5 Series its Best Pick rating for the series' performance in the frontal-offset crash test.[1]

[edit] SOS Button

The vehicle is equipped with an "SOS" button which, when pressed, will connect the user with a BMW call center. Earlier BMWs included a road assistance service, but it required the use of a telephone.
