Bluelephant (a.k.a.) Javier Moreno (February 24, 1977) is a colombian mathematician specialized in mathematical logic applications to algebra who wastes a considerable amount of time writing and reading fiction with not much success so far.

Although he was born in Bogotá, a chain of events beyond his will took him to live for almost seven years in a little Macondo-like town in the caribean coast of Colombia called Lorica. He finished high-school in the Instituto Pedagógico Nacional and did his undergrad in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. After graduating, he got admitted to the graduate program in mathematics of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and he is expected to finish during 2007 (he used to be sure he'd graduate by Fall 2006, so you should not believe much of what he says about finishing his thesis). For a short period of time he lived in Leeds and now he is in Barcelona claiming that he is writing his thesis on Differential Galois Theory in positive characteristic, some short stories, and regular literature and cinema articles for his blog and some colombian magazines.

He is happily married to the neurobiologist Mónica Guzmán and, besides reading and writing, he enjoys cooking, sleeping, going to the movies, walking around with no clear aim and staring at the sea.

He strongly despises people who talk about themselves in third person. Shame on them.
