Bluebird Cafe

The Bluebird Cafe, a music club in Nashville, Tennessee, opened in 1982. The club is famous for intimate, acoustic music performed by its composers. Some perfomers are established singer/songwriters, and others write hit songs performed by other artists but rarely perform their own material in public.
Artists who have been discovered at the Bluebird include Mary Chapin Carpenter and Garth Brooks. The Bluebird's live performances are also sometimes issued on CD, the best-known being an "in the round" performance with Steve Earle, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, Together at the Bluebird Café.
The club was featured in the movie, The Thing Called Love, starring River Phoenix and Samantha Mathis.
