Blue Winds Dancing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blue Winds Dancing (1938) is a short story by Tom Whitecloud, in fact it is his only significant contribution to American literature. The story stands out in contemporary literature for its almost lyrical prose, vivid imagery, and social observations.

Blue Winds Dancing is the story of a young native American trapped living between two worlds, as a college and a part of contemporary "white" society, as well as an Indian, a member of an ancient society. The main character struggles to reconcile his two lives[1] on a journey home for Christmas.

Although Blue Winds Dancing never received any mainstream attention, it has become wildly popular course material in college Literature classes.[2][3][4][5]
