The Blue Train travels in South Africa between Pretoria and Cape Town. It is one of the most luxurious train journeys in the world. It boasts gold-tinted picture windows, in soundproofed, fully carpeted compartments. Since 1923, the Blue Train has been synonymous with opulence of First Class rail travel. Kings and presidents have travelled on it.

Blue Train is operated by Luxrail, a division of Spoornet. Luxrail also owns contracts to operate other luxury train services:

  • Rovos Rail, serving South Africa;
  • The Spier, a tourist train which serves the West Cape wine country.
