[edit] Plot summary
The episode opens on a scene set 5 years after Renton's father's death. Axel laments that he and his grandchildren Diane and Renton are the only ones at the memorial site. Diane confides in Renton what their father told her before he vanished.
The scene changes to the moment that concluded the previous episode, and Renton remembers those words, repeating them to himself. Shouting, "I CAN FLY!" he lifts into the air the way he never could before, even performing the extraordinarily difficult maneuver called the "cut-back drop-turn". When he approaches the Nirvash, he becomes caught in its turbulence and is thrown off his board. Eureka then dives beneath him to catch him in her cockpit. Exhilarated by the experience, he blurts out that he loves her, and promises to protect her and the Nirvash. When he affixes the Amita Drive to the compac drive he had installed earlier, a burst of light flashes through the cockpit and Eureka faints. The Nirvash shuts down, and in free-fall Renton realizes that he can't move the Nirvash and KLF missiles are fast approaching.
The scene abruptly changes to the battle's aftermath, where the KLFs are destroyed and the Gekkostate LFOs are intact. Eureka tells Holland that the Nirvash's true power was unleashed by Renton. Dominic, on board the Izumo, protests Captain Jurgens' decision to continue hunting Gekkostate. After getting nowhere, he commandeers one of the ship's shuttles. Upon hearing that there was an unregistered vessel in the Bellforest airport, Jurgens blockades the airport with his ship and KLFs.
Holland tells Renton that he could not have lifted as he did if he had not trusted the trapar waves. He then tells Renton what his "master" told him, a word-for-word quote of what Diane had told Renton. He then asks Renton what he believed in when he was in the Nirvash.
The scene cuts back to the earlier battle. Before the missiles make contact, the compac drive lights up again with the word "Eureka". Suddenly, Eureka wraps her arms around Renton, telling him to trust her. He remembered in that moment that he had seen the word "Eureka" since his sister gave that compac drive to him.
The Nirvash appears to crash into the ground, but moments later a tremendous burst of energy sears the landscape. A violet-tinted pillar of light and a rainbow could be seen for miles, as the people in Bellforest watch in awe. This energy phenomenon, called the "Seven Swell Effect", grants incredible speed and strength to the Nirvash, allowing it to easily leap into the air and overpower the military KLFs.
The scene fades back to the present, and Renton tells Holland that he wanted to protect Eureka, and he thought that the Nirvash told him to believe that thought. Holland then tells him that if he wants to prove that to himself, Renton should join him. Eureka asks him to join as well, telling him that he is the only one.
[edit] Significance
The signature statement of Adrock Thurston, "Don't beg for things; do it yourself, or else you won't get anything (強請るな、勝ち取れ。さすれば与えられん。 Nedaruna, kachitore. Sasureba ataeraren?, Act, do not ask weakly, and it shall be given to you)," is first mentioned in this episode by Diane. Other characters in the series reveal their connection to Adrock through this quote.
