The Blue Collar Radio™[1]is the first lifestyle country music radio format specifically designed for men and is available as a totally turn-key package for license on American terrestrial radio stations. It features today's country powerhouses like Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Big & Rich, and Tim McGraw as well as country's legends like Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings, and even a sprinkling of country-compatible classic rock acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, The Black Crowes, and George Thorogood. Blue Collar Radio™ is the brainchild of Matt DuBiel [3]at Broadcast Barter Radio Networks.[4]DuBiel doubles as Program Director of the critically-acclaimed trimulcast in Chicago, Nine FM [5]Billboard's "2005 Station of the Year."
Matt says, “Our research tells us that male country audiences are looking for a presentation that reflects the rockin’ side of country. We talked to male country fans, and they told us they love Toby Keith and Big & Rich but have grown tired of the sleepy ballads that country radio embraces. It’s high time country radio focused on delivering for men in a thoughtful way! We've been from Fort Meyers to Coal City to Charlotte to Vegas to Dubuque...in taverns, racetracks, john-boats, bait shops, board rooms, in Cadillacs, pickup trucks, and hum-vees...on cell phones, e-mail, and CBs...we have talked with radio executives and research specialists, business owners, accountants, carpenters, doctors, software engineers, truck drivers and pipefitters...and we have studied country radio in depth. Based on various information we have paid for, overheard, and harvested ourselves, this is what red-blooded American men who listen to country radio crave.”

DuBiel and company boast that Blue Collar Radio™ is the most turn-key format of its kind in the world, excluding satellite-delivered formats. DuBiel calls it a "station-in-a-box." He jokes, "We give 'em [licensees] everything they need to operate and win with Blue Collar Radio in their market...everything but the jocks and the spots. The spots will be no trouble for any station which airs BCR, and the jocks, well, we tried to stuff 'em in the box, but they complained that there aren't enough air holes. Prima Donnas."
