Blue Bayou Restaurant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blue Bayou is a full-service New Orleans/Cajun-style restaurant renowned for its unusual ambiance. Restaurants are located at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Tokyo Disneyland, in Chiba, Japan.

Although seated in a large, enclosed structure, diners experience an illusion that mimics being located in an outdoor restaurant at nighttime. This effect is achieved through the use of a dark ceiling, special lighting, as well as sound and visual effects. Diners hear the chirping of crickets and croaking of frogs and they see the glow of fireflies. The most popular aspect of the restaurant is widely regarded as the one that does the most to enhance the atmosphere of it: the river that courses by it is the beginning portion of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. As the ride's boats float by, they place diners and riders in view of each other.

[edit] Menu information

Blue Bayou is more expensive than most Disneyland Park restaurants with entrées ranging from 25 USD to 40 USD.[citation needed]

The most recent menu (which guests are welcomed to keep as a souvenir) was introduced on June 27, 2006.[citation needed] This menu raised the average prices of the previous menu but also includes offerings which have been greatly improved, completely changed and that are considered more upscale.[citation needed]

Guest favorites including Le Spécial de Monte Cristo and the Five~Pepper Roasted Prime Rib of Beef can still be found.[citation needed]

[edit] Similar restaurants

The layout of the Blue Lagoon restaurant at Disneyland Paris is similar to that of Blue Bayou at other Disney theme parks. However, it is themed as a Caribbean beach instead of a Louisiana bayou.[citation needed]
