[edit] References problem
I was trying to clean up the references in the Poles article, but when parsing, it is just listing code in that area. Is this a bug with Wikipedia, with Firefox, or something I did wrong? I have obviously reverted until I can fix it... Thanks
- It looks like a couple of closing </ref> tags were left out. I fixed it. Happy editing! —Centrx→talk • 23:19, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Great article on price comparison shopping
Hello Blowski! What a great article on price comparison sites, was thinking about writing something myself. I notice you work in the industry, would be great to chat and find out a bit more as I also do similar work and plan on writing more articles around internet shopping, price comparison sites and cash back
Stuart
- Hi Stuart. Thanks :) I work in London for one of the bigger sites. I want to improve some of the articles and navigation on here about internet shopping. Perhaps we could collaborate on some articles? Blowski 07:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hi Blowski, Yes that would be great, I posted some comments before the articles were merged. Maybe we could exchange emails somehow as collaborating ideas is not great on wikipedia, then we can post the subjects, Stuart
-
-
- Sure, that's a good idea. What's your email address? Blowski 12:40, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

-
- Hi Blowski, Can we delete my email after we have exchanged the 1st one, don't really want my email on a public site?
Regards Stuart

-
- Sure no probs - as soon as I've copied it off here, I'll delete the post. Blowski 22:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Blowski, I was wondering if you sent the email?

[edit] Your VandalProof Application
Dear Blowski,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - GIen 14:31, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Warhammer 40,000 revert
Could you please explain this edit of yours, particularly with reference to WP:EL? As I see it, the link was pure linkspam: the forum linked is not notable in terms of Warhammer 40,000, so why put it back in, especially using popups, thus giving the implication it was vandalism seems very rude to me. --Pak21 18:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Was a mistake, and is now fixed. I've left a message on your talk page. Blowski 19:54, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edit War - Please Help
I appear to have stumbled into an edit war on the Michael Lee-Chin article, and need help in resolving it please. Apparently, Mr Lee-Chin is roughly half-Jamaican and half-Chinese, and from what I can figure out, two users on the article are constantly fighting over whether he is more one than the other. I completely rewrote the article recently, and have got some feedback from the Biography project team about how to further improve it.
The problem therefore is what to do about the edit war. I have left messages on both users' talk pages, and on the article itself. However, the edit war continues unabated, and I'm afraid now that if I keep reverting their amends, then I myself will be at fault. I asked on the IRC channel yesterday, and was advised to play it by ear, but I don't want to harm my own reputation, so I'm not sure what the best route is from here. Blowski 18:26, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- It looks like you are doing alright. Whereas the other two are just reverting back and forth, you have been writing and trying to reach a compromise in the text. Just don't get involved in that and you are fine. If the edit warring gets to be a real problem, the page can be protected (Request at WP:RFPP), but that means that you won't be able to edit it either and everything will have to be proposed in the Talk page for a while. Also, if edit warring gets heated, WP:3RR applies and the offending editors could be blocked. For obvious reasons, both of these are not good solutions, so the best way is to discuss with the other editors. Rewriting to make it neutral like you have done is also great, and it may put a stop to the edit warring or allow for a stable, neutral platform that can be worked from. —Centrx→talk • 18:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am discussing all changes on the talk page. Centrx is incorrect that I should be blocked; all of my edits have been in compliance with WP:LIVING, which suspends the 3-revert rule to empower editors to stop libel. --M@rēino 19:29, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry for the confusion, I am not asserting that anyone should be blocked; I was only presenting it as an extreme, possible future remedy in accordance with the policy at WP:3RR. Even regardless of the exception for biographies of living persons, I did not notice when I responded to Blowski that anyone had technically violated that policy. —Centrx→talk • 22:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright
Hello!
No problem, I work on the Wikify Project, and part of the process is checking if the article is a copyright violation, so I catch loads of the things!
There is an overview of spotting articles which might be a copyright at User:Kjkolb/Copyvio. I tend to just do a manual google search (I take sections of about 6 words from half way through a paragraph, and if it's a long article I choose a few sections from different parts of the article.)
There is also a tool at [1] but I've never used it, so I've no idea how user friendly it is.
If you find any copyright vios, there are instructions at Wikipedia:Copyright problems on what to do about it! -Ladybirdintheuk 10:31, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your list IS valuable
The list you created is/was up for deletion. I want you to know there is a place for it: http://wikitistics.com . No one will be able to nominate it for deletion because it fits one simple rule: it's a statistic, list, or figure. Good luck with your endeavors! JM
[edit] ref style
For a reference that you would normally use as <ref>The Sky is Green</ref>, if you want to use it multiple times you can use <ref name = "GreenSky">The Sky is Green</ref> and then later reuse it as <ref name = "GreenSky"/>
So, I can reference[1] a single statement, or use a reference[2] multiple[2] times.[2]
