[edit] Classes

According to the recent update to the official Blood Elf page, Blood Elves will not be able to be Warriors, but now can be Hunters. I updated the page to reflect this. --Xlorep DarkHelm 18:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Racial Abilities

Arcane Affinity Racial Passive Enchanting skill increased by 15.

Magic Resistance Racial Passive All resistances increased by 5.

Mana Tap 30 yd range - 30 sec cooldown Drains 50 mana from your target and charges you with Arcane energy for 10 min. This effect stacks up to 3 times.

Arcane Torrent Instant - 2 min cooldown Silence all enemies within 8 yards for 2 sec. In addition, you gain 5 Rage/12 Mana/20 Energy for each charge of Mana Tap currently affecting you. The above Mana value is indicative of a level 1 character as Mana values for this ability will scale with level.

[edit] Hmmm

I'm just slightly curious as to why the first line of this article is "This article is about Warcraft Universe elves."

I mean, it's not that they are not Warcraft Universe elves, but it's not a link to a disambiguation page or anything, and, unlike the Night Elves, I've never heard the term 'Blood Elf' used anywhere except in Warcraft. So why is the line even there in the first place? Edit: forgot to add my name. Master Deusoma 20:32, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

There's a race called "Blood Elves" in Earthdawn. That's probably why; even if they're not wikified there is something else that could be a "Blood Elf." --202.92.76.129 02:35, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Storyline

The story line shown in the article comes from www.worldofwarcraft.com. Obviously this is copyrighted. Needs to be removed. This is where the original source came from: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/townhall/classcombo.html

[edit] Mount?

Recently, an image has surfaced of a large, snakelike creature supporting a Blood Elf. (It looks something like a Wind Serpent without wings.)

I took a look at that image and, frankly, it looks like a blatantly obvious fake. It looks like someone took one of the pics so far of the BE start area, then pasted in an image of one odf the Blood Elf NPC models mouted on the back of a crudely drawn serpent thing. Until we can get verification of its source, I'd say chop it. --202.92.76.129 02:35, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

There is also several discussions, whether the Blood Elf mount is going to be this catlike creature[3], that is pictured on Sunstrider Isle, the Blood Elf's capital island. Given the fact that Night elves and Blood elves are similar in more than a few ways, one of the other similarities could very well be their mounts. This possible mount seems more likely chosen than the other ones.

Actually, the "creature" shown in the picture there is the Cat form of the Night Elf druid, albiet recoloured. (Comapre to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Druid_Cat_Form.jpg). I would't take it as any indcator of their mount. Besides; at no point in past have the High Elves been depicted as using cat mounts. The previous Warcraft games usually have them riding on horses, for example.

I removed that section, it's speculation. Havok (T/C/c) 07:13, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

It says the blood elf mount has been confirmed as the cockatrice. Huh? When did this news surface? I'd like to see a reference. 154.20.135.89 22:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

The source of the confirmation is http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraftexp1/news.html?sid=6155696&tag=topslot;action;1&page=1&q=&q=
I believe the mount is called a SUNSTRIDER. The BE riding instructor can be found southeast of silvermoon city. I can provide a screenshot of the individual beasts, which i will upload ASAP. 81.86.79.94 10:10, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Main image

The main image is... lacking. Blood elves are often depicted in red and these ones aren't. It ought to be changed if anyone can find a good alternative. RobertM525 20:13, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I noticed there wasn't an image any more, so I looked for a new one that had someone in red, here it is! Chiguayante 04:00, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Crest

That crest is obviously photoshopped, it uses the same griffons as the alliance crest and the exact same shield as the spellbreaker art from WCIII. Remove it? 68.198.220.163

[edit] Naming

Since there are non-Warcraft Blood Elves (Blood Elf (Earthdawn)), maybe this should be Blood Elf (Warcraft), just like Orc (Warcraft), and "Blood Elf" turned into a disambiguation page. Uthanc 02:47, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Aye. —Nightstallion (?) 23:46, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree as well, Earthdawn precedes Burning Crusade by a considerable amount MrDenton 15:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

"If you click on the Blood Elf female's they will sometimes say: "We will persevere" this may be a quote from the Vortigauns of Half-life 2[citation needed]" To me this is wild speculation. The phrase is generally associated with overcoming a seemingly-insurmountable obstacle. There's no real evidence that it was included as a nod to Half-Life 2; on the contrary, it's merely an appropriate thing for a blood elf to say. I move that this be taken out. 70.178.170.147 08:05, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I've editied this a little bit to include male NPC's also, as well as a small sentence at the end to highlight that it MAY be a reference, but is not confirmed. 81.86.79.94 09:47, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Added a small note to the masculine build piece, highlighting the more "masculine" physical form, yet still rather feminine voice and "personality" of the male blood elf. Feel free to remove it if you feel its irrelevant. 81.139.214.167 10:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't believe the following adds anything to the article. It also seems to be based more on hearsay and a personal view...

Many wanted these styles removed, possibly due to fears that the hairstyles would encourage legions of younger players to roll Horde, and ruin the experience for more "mature players" This seems a moot point however, as of the millions who play WoW, it would seem inevitable that there is some percentage of young players out there. Also, this seems to perpetuate the myth that all young gamers in MMORPG's are crude, immature and have no sense of "netiquette". Kingmundi 11:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Well that was originally a statement about hairstyles being removed due to objections fom beta testers."

Many wanted these styles removed to "prevent an even greater number of ten year-old Alliance kids coming to the Horde

i merely expanded on it with some possible causes and consequences. feel free to edit / remove as you see fit. Meat Golem 11:34, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "A Common Chant heard by Players"

A Common chant heard by players is "Oh My God. A Blood Elf."???? Where?? I play 30-60 hours a week and I have NEVER heard this. Any thoughts folks?

I removed this a while back with the reason that one person's experience of that happening does not make it trivia. Trivia is little tidbits of information to add flavour or to reference outside influences. NOT to say "oh, people say omfg a blood elf!" I move that that line be removed..again :P81.139.214.167 09:52, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I have experianced this...... only for the first 3 hrs tbc was released then people got over it.--144.139.125.92 06:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)scott lindh

fair enough. but its still not a common CHANT, is it? Its more like an occasional occurance for those who havent seen a BE before.Meat Golem 10:17, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Gods eye instance?"

where is the link to this i asked about it in my guild lvl 70's only and no ones even heard about this they just Lawled could we get a source?

This is, more than likely, fake information and I will move that whole section to the talk page until the information can be verified through an acredited source (namely Blizzard). The atrocious spelling and grammar contained in that section are pretty clear indicators that the whole thing is made up though. D1lux 22:38, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
The God's Eye (New Instance)
Upon reaching level 70, a Blood Elf may be prone to special "visions" these visions are prompts which start the new level 70 instance quest in a dungeone called "The God's Eye". As this is a race-specific instance, none of the other races can attune to the instance unless they are invited by a Blood Elf into a raid or party group. This is on account of the translocation abilities which the Blood Elfs possess as scene through the various portals to Silvermoon City in Azeroth. The God's Eye itself is a mystical, invisible temple that floats high above the lands of past Azeroth, accessible through the Caverns of Time, if repeated at level 70, and in rare circumstances the prompt will become available. [citation needed]
According to lore, the temple holds the Guldash gemstone, which contained the powers of the ancient god locked within its stone form. Those who dare venture in must prepare for the task at hand. The temple itself is composed of various floors with windows which overlook the land of Azeroth. Monsters located in the temple are level 70 Elite, and energy based. The final boss of the temple is Dol Thazzar, a Blood Elf Shaman who is trying to tap into the gemstone of Guldash. To make this instance more challenging, a boss time limit was implaced, where upon the raid group has four hours to stop Dol Thazzar before he enters the gemstone and becomes a god. If he is not killed within this time limit, then he wipes the raid group with an attack "The Rage of Smyte" and everone in the group dies upon the first hit. Worsening the challenge is the fact that the God's Eye temple is formed in several rotating portions, which means that the layout of the temple itself is ever changing, thus new strategies must be adopted per room, this coupled with the fact that there are also open-air traps (which lead to instant death) make this instance one of the most challenging in the game. [edit] Golden Dream merger

This section should definitely be merged with Golden Dream unless more information is added. -Mike Payne 05:11, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Golden Dream isn't even a part of WoW, I'm not sure why you'd merge an article about the race with that... --LucinerKT 04:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Uhh, have you read the Golden Dream article? Looks like it has a whole lot to do with WoW to me... -Mike Payne 07:49, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bulk Up

This page says that people complained about lack of muscle mass of the blood elves, if i'm not mistaken, the reason the were bulked up was due to the fact the blood elves skeletal frame would poke out of their bodies during certain omvements, and from what i've seen, people complain about the bulk up, claiming it is a "sterotype". (Muscular men compared to thin women.)
