Bloomingdale is a city in Chatham County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,665 at the 2000 census.

Bloomingdale is located at 32°7′27″N, 81°18′26″W (32.124122, -81.307211)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 34.5 km² (13.3 mi²). 34.1 km² (13.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.98%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,665 people, 1,001 households, and 752 families residing in the city. The population density was 78.1/km² (202.3/mi²). There were 1,051 housing units at an average density of 30.8/km² (79.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 91.33% White, 6.30% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.53% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.24% of the population.

There were 1,001 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.05.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $44,300, and the median income for a family was $49,205. Males had a median income of $42,073 versus $23,261 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,771. About 6.0% of families and 7.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.1% of those under age 18 and 10.2% of those age 65 or over.
