Blood Beast will be the fifth book in Darren Shan's The Demonata series and is to be released on 6th June 2007. It will be narrated by Grubbs Grady, the narrator of Lord Loss and Slawter. It will be a two part story, along with book six. The previous four books have not been in chronological order, but this book will be the furthest book into the future. It will deal with whether or not Grubbs Grady will be struck with lycanthropy and how he will deal with this problem.
The title was originally announced at the Edinburgh Book Festival, and Darren Shan read a small sequence about a demon attack on a plane, which featured Lord Loss.

- One scene will take place on a plane. It will feature Darren Shan's favourite demon, a scorpion like thing. It is speculated that this demon kills prey by stabbing victims eyes out and injecting in flesh-eating parasites
- Darren Shan has announced that in this book as well as the next one, it will be revealed how the main characters stories are connected.
- The front cover of Blood Beast will take on a purple theme.
