BLOHARDS

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The BLOHARDS (Benevolent Loyal Order of Honorable Ancient Redsox Diehard Sufferers) are a New York City based group which supports the Boston Red Sox baseball team. The organization was formed in 1964 following a chance meeting on a New Haven Rail Road bar car between Henry Berry and Jim Powers, both native New Englanders living in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Berry died in 1996 and Powers in 2005, but the organization carries on. At present its activities include twice-yearly lunches at Manhattan's Yale Club when the Red Sox come to town to play the Yankees, a bus trip to Fenway park for each season's home opener, and occasional "viewing parties" of away games at local watering holes.
