[edit] Epcot attraction and entertainment history
Epcot is a theme park located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Here is a list of the current attractions found therein, arranged by "land" and with brief descriptions.
Please note that parades, restaurants, shops, and character meets will not be listed in this article. The term "attractions" is used by Disney as a catch-all term for rides, shows, and exhibits.
When possible, please see each attraction's individual page for additional information.

- CommuniCore (1982 - 1994), the pavilions were renamed to Innoventions in 1994 and everything inside was changed.
- Horizons (1983 - 1999) Guests visiting the pavilion were told "If we can dream it, we can do it." With its look into how the future could be, Horizons has been called a sequel to Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Horizons closed on January 9, 1999. It was torn down and replaced by Mission: Space.
- Imagination
- Journey Into Imagination (1983 - 1998), a ride that encouraged guests to use their imagination, as led by the characters Dreamfinder and Figment.
- ImageWorks (1982 - 1998), the original ImageWorks was set up on the second floor of the Imagination pavilion. It was described as a "Creative Playground Of The Future" for guests to explore. The section was closed along with the original "Journey Into Imagination" ride in 1998, and was never re-opened. The entire upstairs section remains closed, however some of the ImageWorks equipment is still in place. During the testing of the Kim Possible "Kimmunicator" game, guests were able to see many remenants of this area. It may be removed if that game is finalized in that area. As the testing of that game is now finished, guests can only see the area by taking the Future World behind the scenes tour. ImageWorks exhibits:
- Dreamfinder's School of Drama - Using a green screen, guests put themselves into a movie under the direction of Dreamfinder. Choices were a western, a fantasy film, or a science fiction film.
- Pin Screens - Massive pin tables
- Stepping Tones - Guests create music from stepping on color panels
- Figment's Coloring Book - Guests colored images featuring Figment and Dreamfinder using electric "paintbrush guns"
- Rainbow Corridor - A large tunnel that featured colored lights that followed the guests as they went through, using motion sensors; each guest getting a different color.
- Electric Philharmonic - By the usage of sensors, guests could conduct an orchestra

- Magic Journeys (1982-1986), this 3-D film was the first film to play in the Journey Into Imagination pavilion when EPCOT Center opened in 1982.
- Captain Eo (1986 - 1994), this 3-D film was directed by George Lucas and starred Michael Jackson as the captain of a spaceship, whose mission is to deliver a gift to the Supreme Leader.
- Journey Into Your Imagination (1999 - 2001), This version of the ride removed Dreamfinder and downplayed Figment's role. The ride was more closely tied to the film Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (which played in the pavilion's theater), by re-themeing the ride as a trip to the Imagination Institute and casting Eric Idle as his character from the 3D film.
- The Living Seas (1986 - 2006), was changed dramatically after the 2006 rehab. The queue, Hydrolators, The Seas film and Seacab ride were removed for a theme based on Finding Nemo, and the attraction renamed The Seas with Nemo and Friends.
- World of Motion (1982 - 1996), was a whimsical look at the history and achievements in transportation ranging from cavemen having to use foot power, the invention of the wheel, Leonardo da Vinci's plans for gliders and flying machines, Christopher Columbus setting sail for America, and the first automobiles. It was replaced by Test Track.
- The Land
- Kitchen Kabaret (1982 - 1994), an audio-animatronic show about eating healthy.
