The correct title of this article is blinkx. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

blinkx is a San Francisco startup company that builds search software products to allow searching and classification of audio files, video clips and streaming media.

blinkx.com is a web based search engine for video and audio content. While a few other video search engines exist, blinkx’s engine differs by using speech recognition to listen to the audio component of the video content. The site then uses a search engine that uses both the phonetic and text transcripts to match content with search queries. blinkx. TV also indexes and searches podcasts and video blogs.

blinkx pico is a toolbar that attaches itself to the title bar of software like Microsoft word and web browsers and constantly scans the text the user is reading, searching multiple web sources similar to the toolbar, though it works without user interaction in the background. It indicates source types that seem to match the currently viewed text, whereupon the user can see these search results and browse there.

In October 2006, Microsoft Corp. agreed to use Blinkx technology to power the video search on some parts of its MSN service and Live.com.[1]
