I moved the massacre text to a different page, which allows separate treatment of the town and the massacre. martg76 Sept 26, 2004
Bleiburg is, as stated, a town with a sizeable slovene population. Under the terms of article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty, the town is supposed to be bilingual, with bilingual town markings. (the effect to which this article is actually in power is a different matter) Shouldn't the slovene name of Pliberk be at least mentioned in this article? 213.172.254.126 15:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

"Between 1918 and 1920, Bleiburg was occupied by Yugoslav troops, but, in spite of the sizeable Slovenian minority in the surrounding villages, remained with Austria." I believe, at the time, at least in Pliberk/Bleiburg and adjacent towns, Slovenes were a majority.
