Hi, and welcome to Bláthnaid's userpage. I'm from Dublin and I'm an undergraduate student. I'm currently taking some time out from university for family reasons, though. In case the flowers and use of pink don't give it away, I'd better state that I'm female. My username is my real name, minus the fada over the a. My name is Irish and means "little flower". It's pronounced "Blaw-h-nid", but I've noticed that people outside of Ireland find it difficult to pronounce the h part, similar to the way McGrath becomes McGraw. (If anyone can express my name in IPA, I would greatly appreciate it!)

I was delighted when I initially discovered Wikipedia and it quickly became my first (but not only!) point of reference when I wanted to find out about something. I made anonymous minor edits for a while, and I registered on 30 May, 2006. I currently have about 1,500 edits. I think that Wikipedia is an important resource and I try to contribute to this work-in-progress in a positive manner. If you notice me making a mistake or have any comments on my edits, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. I can also be reached by email.

Most of my major edits are on topics related to geography, Ireland, and literature. I have created 11 new articles so far. I also like to wikify and copyedit articles. I have been doing a lot of disambiguation link repair recently, since I find it (strangely?) relaxing. I also have accounts at Wikisource and Wikimedia Commons, but my edits there are mostly adjuncts to my Wikipedia work. My contributions page lists some of my major edits.

Here are some things I'd like to do, but probably never will:

Contribute more to Wikiproject:Countering systemic bias and Missing encyclopedic articles project.
Create a few novel articles from the Films that are also novels list.
Get the hang of using all the different templates.
Read the German Wikipedia (because I've forgotten all the German I learned in school).
Stop spelling the followings words incorrectly: article | marriage | tomorrow | friend | independent | etc. etc...

Note to self: Don't just work on topics that I like/admire/enjoy — my taste is not an arbiter of worth.

Glittering generality — something to think about.
Copyleft — I had never given copyrights much thought before, but just uploading pictures has been enlightening.
