Blake Lemoine

Blake Lemoine is a 23 year old U.S. Army deserter from the Iraq War. After serving in Iraq for a year he claimed that the war in Iraq had been in violation of his religious beliefs and that remaining in the army would make him a "hypocrite".
On March 28, 2005, Lemoine was sentenced to seven months in prison and a dishonorable discharge. He was then flown in the middle of the night to the regional military prison at Ft. Sill (in Lawton, Oklahoma). He was released from prison on September 14, 2005.
During his incarceration, a vigil was held on his behalf (as well two other GI resisters --- Dale Bartell and Neil Quentin Lucas) outside the gates of Ft. Sill on August 28, 2005.
Lemoine's hometown is Moreauville, Louisiana and his parents are Frank and Brenda Lemoine. He attended Avoyelles High School and the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. He was later married to Alayna Lemoine of Bordelonville, Louisiana.
