Blackgate

The "Black Gate" was added to Newcastle Castle between 1247 and 1250, forming an additional barbican.
Blackgate was leased to the Society of Antiquaries in the 1880s, which extensively restored it between 1883 and 1885. The Society has held regular meetings there ever since.
