"Black Velvet" is a rock and roll song written by Canadian musicians David Tyson and Christopher Ward and first recorded by Canadian singer Alannah Myles in 1989. It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on Saturday, March 24, 1990. The song is about Elvis Presley.
