Black Lotus is the name of one of the rare and powerful Power Nine cards in the card game Magic: The Gathering.
The Black Lotus card has gained legendary status among the players of Magic the Gathering. Single Black Lotus cards have been known to sell for as much as US$3,000 on the open market. The Black Lotus card comes from the first set of Magic the Gathering cards known as "Alpha". The card was later reprinted in the "Beta" and "Unlimited" sets, the next two sets to be released. While the card is rare and therefore automatically of higher value, it is a very powerful card itself, long having been restricted in Tournaments.
