Black Hat is a corporation founded in 1997 by Jeff Moss, most famous for organizing a network of conferences known for providing new and exclusive insights about upcoming information security trends.

The Black Hat Briefings bring together a unique mix in security: the best minds from government agencies and global corporations with the underground's most respected hackers. These forums take place regularly in Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Singapore. An event dedicated to the Federal Agencies is organized in Washington, D.C..

The event in Las Vegas takes place immediately before DEF CON.

In 2005 Jeff Moss sold Black Hat to CMP Media, a subsidiary of UK-based United Business Media, for a purported $14 Million USD. He continues to run the conference. DEF CON was not included as part of the sale.
