The Black Cats is the name of an Iranian pop music band founded found by Shahbal Shabpareh.

The most famous members were Pyruz and David (1992- 1999) and Kamran and Hooman (1999-2004). Although the members have changed every couple years Shahbal has always been in the band. The Black Cats are still active and have a new album Scream Of The Cats. Initially, Kamyar was a singles soul singer from France. However, after inspiration from Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, Kamyar immigrated to the USA and joined the band to further pursue his goal. His mother, Nazi and father, Reza both live in France and occasionally visit him to offer their support at various concerts. Currently, Kamyar resides in LA. Regularly, he mentions Niema and Pejman, his cousins, as mentors.

In an famous 1993 trip to Montreal, Canada, Kamyar performed various Michael Jackson moves in his cousin's uncle's house. It was there, in New York City, that he found the inspiration to sing. In his long lasting quest for a green card, he's current here with a visa and resides in Westwood, Los Angeles along with thousands of other Persians. Although Westwood is not the most fun part of Los Angeles, it is convenient for Kamyar because he does not have a license and everything is close to his apartment.
