"Black" is a track on grunge group Pearl Jam's debut album, Ten. The song is a soliloquy by a heart-broken man, who is remembering his absent lover.

"Black" is one of Pearl Jam's best known songs and is a central emotional piece on the album. As with "Rearviewmirror" from Vs. and "Better Man" from Vitalogy, the band refused to make it into a single, feeling that it was too personal and the feeling of it would be lost by a video or a single release.[1] In spite of this, the song charted at #3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1992. The song was included on Pearl Jam's greatest hits album, Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003.

Aaron Lewis of Staind covered the song in 2001 on the band's Break the Cycle tour and on the 2001 Family Values Tour. A live performance of the song by Aaron Lewis appears on the Family Values Tour 2001 compilation album.

Stone Sour have also performed this song live in their early days before achieving main stream success, as heard on their 1996 bootleg Live At The Edge, Des Moines, IA.
