[edit] Album information
Bite Your Tongue was recorded over a two year period (2005-2006), excluding "The Mirror" which was originally released in 2004 as a b-side to Wood's debut, Warner Music single "What R U Waiting 4" (which does not feature on the album). Wood co-wrote nine tracks, including the singles "Devil in Your Soul", "Spin The Bottle" and included a cover of the Divinyls' controversial hit "I Touch Myself", which became the album's third single. The album takes an uptempo rock-pop approach, covering a number of issues such as relationships ("I Told You", "Ain't Dun Nothing To U"), falling asleep behind the wheel ("Wake Up"), body image ("The Mirror") and the entertainment industry ("Devil In Your Soul", "Free Your Mind"). The imagery for the booklet and artwork was inspired by Wood's love for the 1940s burlesque look.
[edit] Reviews
Herald Sun music reporter Cameron Adams gave the album three stars:
Ex-Bardoter Tiffani Wood lost her solo deal when she wanted to go rock, not make acoustic girly pop. Ironically her debut album finally arrives at a a time every girly pop act now wants to be a pop star. Wood hasn't got the budget for hot overseas hitmakers, but has a powerful voice and never sounds out of depth amid heavy guitars. "Devil In Your Soul" tackles the pre-fab pop girls ("if it's up to my producer I can suddenly sing"), "The Mirror" addresses anorexia and "9 Lives" and her Divinyls cover "I Touch Myself" sex things up. Meanwhile Blondie-like "Free Your Mind" sees Wood bite the hand that feeds: dissing reality TV. In a word: sassy
