Biscay (horse)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Biscay was a thoroughbred racehorse bred in Australia in 1965. A son of Star Kingdom from Magic Symbol he was bred by Stanley Wootton at Barramul Stud.

An exceptionally speedy type he had a short but successful racing career. Out of 8 starts he recorded 6 wins and was unplaced the other 2 times. His wins included the VRC Maribrynong Plate, Merson Cooper Stakes and the VATC Debutante Stakes, all good quality races.

He was retired to stud and joined his sire Star Kingdom at Barramul Stud. A quality sire in his own right he passed on his lightning-quick speed to his progeny which included Bletchingly (who sired the champion Kingston Town), Zephyr Bay, Otehi Bay, Biscay Star, Biscawong and Marscay, winner of the 1982 STC Golden Slipper Stakes and champion sire himself.

He died in November 1987 having sired 300 individual winners of more that A$5.5 million in stakemoney.
