[edit] You are under arrest for a typo in the Zero Wing Script.

How dare you mess up the Zero Wing script?!? The correct line is, "Somebody set up us the bomb." All your user page are now belong to us. You are on the way to destruction. --AYB Police 02:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. That's the strangest thing - I copied and pasted it directly from the AYBABTU Wikipedia script. --Birdman1 13:04, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Conv - Andy Wang

Congratulations on creating your first article! Note the changes that I made in the article. I added two categories, as with the 1st and 3rd. Remember to PLEASE ADD the article to your watchlist if you have not already. You need to monitor articles you create. If you would like me to add it to my own watchlist, please reply. If you have any questions on writing, feel free to reply (on my talk page). Thank you. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 18:23, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

WOW!!!!! You took those pictures of the Malachite Kingfisher, BRAVO! I cannot say that enough times. I will give you another award if you upload more of your pictures that have excellent composition. Good job, Birdman1! GOOD JOB! I voted in WikiCommons as an IP. You are the best newcomer I have seen. Congratulations, man. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 04:16, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Award

The Exceptional Newcomer Award
For your boldness of your contributions at your stage, for creating a good stub article, for uploading pictures of excellent composition, even reverting my own edits! Keep it up! Here's a cookie for you. :) -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 00:59, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Birdman, note that all award you receive should be deleted from your talk page completely. They should be moved onto your own user page. (Take a look at my own user page. All awards should go there.) -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 16:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

Is it permissible to use this picture? --Birdman1 02:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

If you are going to use that picture: save it to your computer. In your "toolbox" on the left, (can you find it?) click "Upload file". Browse for the file on the computer. Find the appropriate liscence. That is most important. If you cannot find an appropriate liscence, do not upload it. I hope this helps. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 02:30, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, but where can I find the license? --Birdman1 02:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Click Upload file. It should give you a whole list of liscenses. Picking the right one is difficult. I have failed four times with that. Good luck. You know what? I will try to upload it myself to save you trouble. Stay alert. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 02:38, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I'll try first, if you haven't already... --Birdman1 02:40, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Click on Upload file. The only two under Liscencing I found suitable are: -Photo of a two-dimensional work whose author died more than 100 years ago and Music sample. Just choose one. I would go with the first. Good luck. Go ahead! Are you going to upload it or not? -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 02:43, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I uploaded it but it didn't appear. I have to go - please upload it. --Birdman1 02:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
You successfully uploaded you first picture! Congratulations! Please look at Image:Ballade No. 2 manuscript.jpg! I added the liscense. I added it to the article. Now, please don't forget to add the picture to your watchlist. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 03:05, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:White-browed Sparrow-weaver perched.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:White-browed Sparrow-weaver perched.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:13, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Birdman, I am sorry. Please do not be offended. I did not mean to be rude. It is just that a similar experience happened to me. I am sorry. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 02:55, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oh wow...I am So Sorry

About the Sahara Incident. I am so sorry but that was my 9 yr. old daughter, Amber, acting stupid. I just log on so I found a new message from you, when I did not do anything in Wikipedia. So a asked Amber(she was the only one using the computer during the whole day) if she did any thing and she did. So, you see, I am terribly sorry for the way my daughter was acting. P.s., Amber aslo is grounded and she told me that she meant to do it on the Stardust Hotel, which doesn't really help, but I thought you should know. Anyways, I am very sorry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Secretmist (talkcontribs) 04:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC).

Oh! I'm so sorry if I caused you any chagrine, but, as I'm sure you know, it was necessary for me to warn you. Apology completely accepted. No hard feelings. You took the right action once you knew what had happened. Thank you for clearing this up. --Birdman1 talk/contribs 15:08, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:LAVT and WP:POP

Here are the two tools that I have in my monobook.js. Use them wisely. You will be able to revert vandalism like crazy. However, don't depend on them; just get some more edits. Cheers. -- Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 15:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RAF Lindholme

You didn't really give me time to correct a minor mistake. CS46 22:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

You can see your edit here. It seemed to me like you were adding random nonsense. Please justify - maybe that resembled some sort of code I didn't know? --Birdman1 talk/contribs 22:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
If you look at the actual page you will see that I was putting someone else's incorrectly formatted text into a table. I've now put my edit back.

CS46 22:35, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry - Goes to show what those auto-vandal-filters can do to your sanity! --Birdman1 talk/contribs 22:53, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Scott Joplin.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Scott Joplin.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Majorcan move

I have made a formal request for renaming the Mallorca article. If you want to have a look, go to Talk:Mallorca#Requested_move Francisco Valverde 16:52, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sparrow weaver

It's ok if they reach in groups as far north as Ethiopia, but if these are stable populations, then it should be included in the distribution range, which I see it is not.

That is why I assume they are wanderers, mavericks (even in a small group form) or whatever the English word may be for that. I think you could improve the text by adding this info (I don't want to be reverted). Cheers. Mountolive | Talk 23:35, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

As the range map says (if that is what you mean by "distribution range", it is partial. Unfortunately, I do not have the precise range data and I'm not able to find it anywhere. Thank you for your help on this article - it is much appreciated. --Birdman1 talk/contribs 00:40, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Probably the range map (yes, that's what I meant by distribution range ;) should be removed because it is very inconsistent with the text (Ethiopia is way north of what the map depicts as its northernmost population) and the fact that the species northernmost range is, per the map, coinciding with the northern borders of Namibia, Zimbabwe...it just doesn't work. As we know, birds do not understand of these borders but of ecosystems, so I guess the map is not correct.

In my opinion, it may be better to have no map than a very sketchy or plain wrong one. It's up to you, anyway, since you seem more familiar with the species.

Thanks! Mountolive | Talk 04:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You are misinterpreting the map. The map says that it depicts the bird's distribution across southern Africa. The other countries are "blanked out" because I don't have data for them. If necessary, I can change the caption to make it clearer that this distribution is partial. In my opinion, it is better to have a (clearly) partial range map than none at all. I will revise the caption so that it is clearer that the map is partial. Again, thanks for the help. --Birdman1 talk/contribs 11:44, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

In that case, you are right: I was misinterpreting it. I strongly suggest that the map is not partial, because everyone is expecting from these maps to get one covering the whole species territory and, because of that, people may make the same mistake I did. If it is not available for any reason, I think that, in this case, it is better no map than a partial one. But, I just don't like to "step" on other users good faith work so, if you want to leave it in place, I won't remove it. Thanks Mountolive | Talk 16:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edinburgh University Students' Association

You left the following message on my Talk page:

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Some of your recent edits, such as those you made to Edinburgh University Students' Association, have been considered unhelpful or unconstructive and have been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Birdman1 talk/contribs 18:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I have never made an edit to Edinburgh University Students' Association, as you can see from my contributions page. I therefore have no clue as to what you are talking about. If you cannot be accurate with your accusations, could you at least be specific. Hrafn42 19:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

You are correct. After reviewing my contributions, I saw that I warned the wrong user. I was using a semi-automatic anti-vandal tool, through which it is easy to get mixed up. Sorry for the confusion; I'm sure no administrators will mind if you delete the warning. I take full responsibility for the incident, but I have one suggest for you that may prevent further mishaps like this - create a user page. That way, it will be clearer that you are the very model of a modern Wikipedian. --Birdman1 talk/contribs 15:50, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
