[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

A storm is approaching towards the Kingdom of Caring, and Tenderheart and Gentle Heart are trying to run away from it. When No Heart, as a bird, swoops down and takes them both with his claws, the Care Bear Family stop the villain with their Stare. This makes the two fall down before Brave Heart saves them on his Cloud Roller.

Unsatisfied at his defeat, the human No Heart tells his sidekick Beastly what to expect once he wins over the entire Family.

Meanwhile at Care-a-lot, the others are planning a party for the lively Birthday Bear, who is celebrating his namesake today. Then Tenderheart calls the Bear over to see about a rich boy named Charles down on Earth, as his suitable mission.

Arriving near Charles' large mansion and maze garden on his Cloud Car, Birthday crash-lands near the boy's swimming pool, amazed by the grandeur of the place. Coming out of the pool, he asks Charles about his gloom. Birthday's clientèle responds, saying no one came to his party yet because they do not like him.

At his castle, No Heart stops Beastly in his tracks while he is offering his boss a prickled plant. He devises a plan to conquer over the Family should all of them be together—inside Charles' maze.

Back on Earth, Charles invites his friends over for his party, but they still refuse to listen. Birthday hence has an idea: they will celebrate their birthday together. But it never goes the way they planned, at least not until the Bears and Cousins come over to the two after looking for them.

Yet little do they know that their plotting enemies are behind them: No Heart causes Beastly's plant to grow all over the maze, and insists that Beastly entice the Care Bear Family into it, just to capture all of them.

The Family and Charles, meanwhile, are having all the fun they could possibly have, in the form of the Cousins riding a merry-go-round; Grumpy and Swift Heart driving a racecar; and an ice cream-eating contest that leaves the Family all full and tired to their bellies. More fun only comes when Gentle Heart suggests playing "follow the leader", with a catch—the leader is Beastly dressed as a clown. His clothes get ripped by the thorns, and some of the Family members realise it is instead their villain. In order to stop Beastly, the Family splits in different directions throughout the maze. In fact, No Heart sees to them being lost that way before he turns into a tiger, which causes Birthday Bear and Charles to worry about the safety of their Care Bear comrades. Only some time later do the others realise their such fate.

No Heart plans to get track them down and capture them inside the maze. As the tangled plant grows, and No Heart comes closer to them, the Bears' chances of getting out of it are limited. Meanwhile, Beastly offers Charles a chance to help the Bears out, but the rich kid knows what the henchman is already up to.

Then Birthday Bear suggests to him that they both visit his friends. But on his arrival, they all take no heed to him at first. Only when he asks them to come and rescue the Bears do they warm up, and come with him at once.

Meanwhile, inside the maze, a scared Gentle Heart Lamb comes face to face with No Heart, the tiger. While she is being chased, Brave Heart and Tenderheart tell her to stare him, and she tries it with no success. Then Tenderheart uses his Stare to look for the villain, with a glowing heart flying into the air. When it has caught No Heart, Brave Heart calls on the other Bears and Cousins to stare together on the tiger.

That Stare knocks Gentle Heart out of No Heart's claws, before she finally joins in and likewise defeats him. Outraged, No Heart turns into a dark whirlwind and spins out of the maze, taking Beastly with him.

Contradicting the villain's prediction of the Care Bear Family's eternal entrapment, Charles' friends manage to find them, thanks to the rich boy's kite string. Soon, everyone resumes the rich boy's birthday party once and for all.

That evening, a glum Birthday Bear walks inside the Hall of Hearts, but suddenly his mood changes when the rest of the Care Bear Family give him a loud surprise, saying "Happy Birthday" to him. After all, Brave Heart and Tenderheart agree, they never forgot his namesake all this time!

[edit] Moral

The moral of the episode is that friendship has no price. Charles tried to make friends by giving them an opportunity to play with his toys, but in the end, he learned that the best way to make a friend is to be nice to, and help, each other.
