[edit] History

Birsingpur is a really old town quite rich in the history. It is believed that a guy named Birsingh had visions of the goddess Birasani Devi lying in the pond near by. These visions later resulted in an extensive search of the Birasani Devi's idol in the pond. The Idols were found and later established in the temple known as Ma Birasani Devi Temple. The town was named after Birsingh and known to all of us as Birsingpur.

[edit] PrakashNagar

The Town has a small twin town known as PrakashNagar(City of lights). It's the site for a 840MW power plant known as Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station[1](SGTPS). The construction of a new 500MW plant is ongoing.Prakashnagar also has a small hydroelectric power plant(25MW). The Dam is built on Johila River which is a tributary of the Narmada river. The lake formed due to this DAM makes this place really fascinating.

This area in Madhya Pradesh is blessed with lush green forests. Wild animals are found throughout the area due to the proximity to Bandhavgarh National Park.
