Birote Khurd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The western part of the Birote area is called Birote Khurd and is one of the 57 Union councils that make up the Abbottabad District of Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province.

The words Khurd and Kalan (little and big) are administrative terminology dating back to Mughal times - to differentiate two areas with the same name, hence Birote Khurd means little Khurd (cf. Britannia major, "Greater Britain" and Britannia minor "Lesser Britain")

The main tribes of Birote Khurd are the Lahral (a sub tribe of the Dhond Abbasi) , Mojwal and Nikodrals. Others tribes are Awans, Gujjars, Seyeds among others. The main places of Birote Khurd are Nakkar Kutbal, Lohwer, Mohrha, Kotli, Narhi Hoter, cholhottian, Hotrerhi, Hotrole, Bhan and Khrindi.
