"Bird Flu" is a Dance/Hip hop song recorded by the Sri Lankan Tamil rapper and singer M.I.A.. It was released on February 6, 2007 as the first single from her upcoming second studio album KALA. The music video for the song appeared in late January 2007 and was shot in fishing village in the south coast of India. M.I.A, whose real name is Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, says:[1]
“ | The village was hit by a tsunami, but they still were in good shape! We practically moved there and had the craziest time going out fishing everyday. I always used to say that one day I'm going to run away and marry a fisherman and live happily ever after and I thought, damn, I was close to seeing the reality of my plan B. | ” |
Maya also explained the title of the song by saying "this beat gonna kill everyone!".
