The Bio Devil is a fictional mechaniloid in the Mega Man series. Some of its varied names include Rainbow Devil, Yellow Devil, Green Devil, "Rock Monster", and "Cyclops", but the basic design of each Bio-Devil is always similar to its predecessors .

The name Bio-devil was used as the English name for the Rainbow Devil in the Brady Games guide for Mega Man Zero. While it doesn't officially refer to the "devil" series robots as a whole, it has since picked up some use in the fancommunity as an all encompassing name.

[edit] History

[edit] Mega Man Classic

The devil is a mechaniloid built by Dr. Wily. As one of his many creations built to stop or destroy Mega Man, it was unique in the fact it used a substance surrounding its mechanics. It also came in a variety of colors, such yellow and green variations.

[edit] List of Classic series Devils

[edit] Mega Man X

In the year 20XX, the original Mega Man battled several Devil creatures from Dr. Wily, most of which were yellow in color and who went under different names. The Shadow Devil's appearance in Mega Man X5 with the Dr. Wily symbol appearing behind it further signifies Wily's role in the series. This Devil has more attack abilities than the Classic series versions that appeared before it. Smaller Devil-type enemies are also seen in Mega Man X: Command Mission. These Devils come in several colors, usually to indicate their elemental strength.

[edit] Mega Man Zero

The Rainbow Devil was a powerful bodyguard used in Neo Arcadia. Clearly based on old Devil designs of years past, this one exhibited the same traits of being able to disassemble and reassemble itself while using its body parts as weapons. Also note that while other devils had a large one-eyed machine for its head this Devil incoparates a Pantheon's head for its own. This devil's attack pattern has almost no similarities to other devils.

[edit] Mega Man ZX

The tradition of Devil-type enemies continues in Mega Man ZX with the Lava Devil. Based off the Rainbow Devil in that the mass is controlled by the head of a single drone enemy (in this case, a Galleon's head), the Lava Devil uses its molten body to both survive in the extreme heat of its surroundings and to destroy any possible intruders.

[edit] Mega Man (Devil's Due comicbook series)

At the end of the series, Wily converts his base into a towering Bio-Devil like robot, usually referred to in the fancommunity as the Steel Devil.

[edit] Physical Appearance

All Devils (except the Rainbow and Lava Devil) consist of a ball-shaped body with over-porportionate hands and feet. At the center of the body is a single, mechanical eye. In all Devils this eye is what keeps the Devil together and it's one and only weakness.

The Rainbow Devil has a much more bloby body resembling an obese man. Unlike other devils it constantly changes it's shape, moving or not.

[edit] Abilities & Characteristics

A Devil utilizes its malleable body substance and brute strength to lash out at intruders. The color in a Devil's name denotes the color of its substance. It's interesting to note that only the rainbow Devil is transparent and features more than one color.

[edit] Trivia

  • A similar creature resembling the devils exists in the ice ruins in Mega Man Legends 2, very similar to a Rainbow Devil. However, unlike the rest of the "devils", it does not contain a humanoid bodyshape, being more akin to a mass of liquid with an eye ball.
  • The Devils never have any speaking dialogue (except in the case of Mega Man Powered Up, a remake of the first NES game, where the Yellow Devil is shown to have a language consisting of the word "Bumo" and its variations).
