Binhai New Area is a major development in Tianjin municipality. It will enlarge Tianjin port, and build many new industrial parks in the Tanggu area east of Tianjin city. It is said that it will become an area for foreign companies to set up operations rivaled by only Shenzhen and Pudong, Shanghai. It is a SEZ (Special Economic Zone) in the PRC, where experimental reforms are done throughout the zone.
