Bingo Gazingo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bingo Gazingo is an elderly outsider musician from New York City. His sole album, also titled Bingo Gazingo, was the only single-artist album ever released by WFMU.

A former postal worker, Bingo Gazingo's music consists of him reading lyrics off of a sheet which he wrote beforehand, to an improvised musical accompaniment. Often, while performing live, the background music to his frantic, poetic incantations was nothing more than a cassette tape inserted into a cheap cigar-box tape recorder and miked.

Bingo's songs often contain hilarious rhyme schemes and crude language, with titles like "Up Your Jurassic Park" and "I Love You So Fucking Much I Can't Shit". In the past he has penned hyper-caffeinated odes to Madonna, Tupac Shakur, and Beavis and Butthead, and had his song "Everything's O.K. at the O.K. Corral" featured on a 1996 CD produced by the famed Greenwich Village coffeehouse Fast Folk Cafe.

In the past, Bingo has worked with one-man-band My Robot Friend, and plans to release an EP with him sometime in 2006.
