[edit] Who Is the Rhythm Method?
The Rhythm Method is the only co-ed 80's a cappella group at Binghamton University. The Rhythm Method was born in 1993 by people with a passion for everything 80's and a cappella. The quirkiness of both types of music has formed a natural partnership. Since then, the Rhythm Method's purpose is to entertain audiences and have fun while doing so. Also known as "RM", the group has spent the past 13 years growing in popularity within Binghamton University as well as outside of it. Members spend one week of their Winter Break touring all over the northeast at various public schools, bars, churches, and community centers. In addition to this, RM is proud to participate in the semesterly showcase of all the Binghamton a cappella groups, the Dollar Show, and also eagerly supports other student groups' fundraising efforts with numerous volunteer performances a semester. Regular appearances include Parent's Weekend, Spring Fling, Late Nite Binghamton, and the annual alumni a cappella gathering at Central Park. Rehearsals focus on preparing for all of these 'gigs', as well as their 1.5 hour end-of-semester show which includes elaborate choreography, intense beat-boxing, and challenging four-(or more)part harmonies. All this rehearsal paid off in 2002, when RM was awarded Best Arrangement and Best Soloist at the ICCA semi-finals. Through all this, RM has not lost sight of the original goal of its founding members, and remains focused on the fun of a cappella.
