[edit] Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight
As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. [edit] Congratulations!
I'm pleased to inform you that you are now an administrator. Please consider reading all the material on the administrators' reading list before testing out your new privileges. Though everything you do, excluding image deletions and page history merges, is reversible, you should nevertheless be very careful with your sysop capabilities. For instructions, please see the administrators' how-to guide. Good luck! — Dan | Talk 23:38, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! And a thank you to all who contributed to the RFA. I've taken the namespace comments on board, and will definitely edit more in the Talk and Wikipedia namespaces from now on. BillyH 00:44, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedians by age
Leave this page alone! What you did is vandalism, a fine new task for an admin. You didn't even bother to add our names to the wiki meta page, just trashed the page, SqueakBox 14:16, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Popups tool
Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:BillyH/monobook.js:
// [[User:Lupin/popups.js]] - please include this line document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="' + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lupin/popups.js' + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>'); popupShortcutKeys=true; // optional: enable keyboard shortcuts popupAdminLinks=true; // optional: enable admin links
There are more options which you can fiddle with listed at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! (Sorry about my editing confusion just now...) Lupin|talk|popups 00:11, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mickey Mouse
Just wanted to say, good work on correcting the closedown / restart info at 1939 in television and 1946 in television. Makes me feel rather ashamed to have been propagating myths all these years! Oh well, we live and learn. I should do some research sometimes, it might help! I don't know what I'm doing... Angmering 19:20, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The Devil and Homer Simpson
You "removed wackyness from image description". I originally posted that description with reason. For Homer -- that was his idea of Heaven. So, why did you doo the change? -- Jason Palpatine 23:07, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- The language of Wikipedia should be formal, and not include words like 'uh'. Saying the scene is from "Heaven... uh Hell" is confusing to readers, it should just state what the scene is instead of cracking a joke. BillyH 07:33, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Chuckle Brothers
Please see the talk page for Chuckle Brothers. I think the facts for Barry Chuckles affair actually check out. What steps did you take to confirm/deny that the accusations had been made?

[edit] Images for deletion
Thanks for letting me know about the three images. Sorry, I wouldn't have uploaded them originally if I'd known they were already uploaded. I have made the changes accordingly to BBC Television Idents. Can you let me know if there are possibly any more ident images that are duplicated by those I have uploaded. Thanks again. [edit] CLOSE
Hi, Please contribute to Talk:CLOSE. User:Arbiteroftruth seemingly hasn't a clue and still insists that there is something called CLOSE separate from "Pages from Ceefax".

[edit] Comment about Image:Channel 5
I think you should have replaced the old image with your new one
- I couldn't - the old image was a .gif, and the new image is the better .png. Besides, Channel 5.png is a better name than C5 croydon.gif. BillyH 16:23, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Looking for some help!
An abusive admin has blocked my pal on IP address 24.147.103.146. The admin is named Gamaliel. This admin has been reported in the past by 24.147.103.146 for copyright violation and made to revert. He must be holding a grudge. It may also be due to his POV on the Kennedys and his past invlovement in edit wars. The reason given for the block was an old RFC on Ted Kennedy. My pal added appropiate links to other Kennedy pages not mentioned in the RFC. The admin is pro Kennnedy so he blocked my pal. In any case, this is an abuse of his priv and I ask your help in bringing this to light. Thank you193.120.103.205 06:04, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Star TV List (CBeebies)
Your removal of the whole list from this article is fine, but you comment in the edit summary that none of the shows have been shown on Cbeebies, is wrong. There is one on the list, Fireman Sam, which has been shown on CBeebies, and is still part of their current schedule, and mentioned on their website. Its already mentioned in the examles list, so that's fine. Just pointed out to you... Thor Malmjursson 11:55, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- My mistake, sorry. I'd forgotten that despite being an S4C show it was also shown on the BBC. BillyH 13:14, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] LWT
Sorry i was misinformed. Can you give the real schedule and times for that last day just out of interest. PMA 15:19, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- The startup was broadcast before the ITV Morning News at 5:30am. Then the recreation of the 1978-86 ident at 11:20pm, before The South Bank Show, then the goodbye from Trish and Glen and LWT montage at 12:20am, before Jonathan Dimbleby. See the clips here: [1] (this link appears to have the timings of the last two clips out by an hour, judging by other websites). BillyH 17:24, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Soul Cages
I noticed your edit to the track listing for the Sting album The Soul Cages. Oddly, I have seen that track called "Part 1" and "Part 2" in different places (for example, it's called Part 2 here and here but not in the discography on Sting's Web site. I'm trying to really compile a comprehensive reference on Sting's life and works, so this seemingly minor detail is important to me. Sting's albums often have different track listings and even different track NAMES depending on the version. In your opinion, what should I be using? Stick to the US release track listings? Use Sting's Web site as canon regarding track names? Any input appreciated! Aguerriero 15:56, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think you must be mistaken - all I did was move the name of the article from Soul Cages to The Soul Cages. It was User:WvanGent who edited the tracklisting. BillyH 17:08, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks - Chalkboard Gag comment
Thank you for the clarifying comment in your edit to the chalkboard gag ("It's scientifically impossible for a 1998 blackboard gag to reference a 2003 episode"). I had reverted it earlier because I did not understand why 171.159.64.10 had removed it. --KNHaw 19:29, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince
I've created an vector version of the infamous symbol using Inkscape, and uploaded it to the commons, so I've listed your upload (Image:Princesymbol.png) for deletion. — May. 20, '06 [09:42] <freak|talk>
[edit] Mr Stickman
Hey, BillyH, you must have posted mr Stickman carrying Everyking carrying Ashlee Simpson for me when I autojoined -- I probably wasn't even home. But I see them all now, excellent tightrope act! :-) I hope the Niagara Falls are involved. Bishonen | talk 18:03, 22 May 2006 (UTC).

[edit] The BBC had clocks since the 1930s, not 1966.
[2] What do you mean by the edit summary? There were only BBC television idents from 1953. Was there a tickling clock ident on the radio? Adding an additional note about the clock idents to the prose section might help too. TransUtopian 03:04, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I was off by a decade, but clocks were indeed in use before 1966 - this page [3] has examples of clocks dating back to 1949. BillyH 03:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Fascinating link, and thank you for the info! TransUtopian 00:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] I need help with a personal attack against me
User:SqueakBox doesn't like me. He has insulted me in the past and, recently, he was blocked for posting the following insult in his user page: "My greatest achievements here [...] have been [...] and restoring José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero from the POV of another user who claims to write about saints." (See the entry for August 21 in his block log) My nick, Hagiographer means just that, "to write about saints", so it's clear that comment is a direct attack against me. Furthermore, when I came to the article about Zapatero SqueakBox had already been banned from editing Zapatero's editing articles by the Arbitraton Committee (what can he restore?). And, in fact, I've never contributed or deleted information from any of those articles. I simply reverted some vandalism SqueakBox introduced as part of his harassment campaing against other user who was also banned by the same Arbitration Comittee decision. So, that paragraph is pure slander.
Taking WP:NPA into account, I believe that paragraph should be deleted or, at least, marked like what it is, a personal attack. I did just that [4]. However, SqueakBox removed it and User:Guettarda protected the page here. SqueakBox has had a lot of problems with other users and, sometimes, Guettarda has taken part in them. For example, in User:SqueakBox can be found a barnstar given by User:Guettarda in which he says that SqueakBox has gone beyond the call of duty in his fight against "strange" people in the article Javier Solana. WP:NPA states clearly that comments must be about content not users so it's clear that Guettarda and SqueakBox have cooperated in, at least, dubious actions against other users. It's also clear Guettarda is biased in favor of SqueakBox. In this edit in my talk page, he implies that I like looking for conflict, that I'm obsessed with SqueakBox that I've to settle down and so on, all violation of WP:AGF and unpleasant remarks.
It mustn't be forgotten that according to WP:OWN, user pages belong to everybody and I don't believe a wikipedian has any right to transform his user page in a platform to attack other users. So Guettarda's supposed protection of SqueakBox's user page (really of SqueakBox's insults) is very difficult to defend in my opinion.
I'm simply asking fair treatment. I don't believe I have to see how the Wikipedia is populated with insults against me. I believe SqueakBox can contribute useful edits without transforming his user page into a gallery of attacks. So please, either unprotect the page so WP:OWN can be applied, or remove the negative comment or mark it as a personal attack untolerable in the Wikipedia or, at least, explain to me why I have to bear that kind of treatment. SqueakBox has been blocked for that unpleasant remark, What is the use of blocking him and then keeping the insult? Thank you. Hagiographer 08:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Verity Lambert
Hello. You don't really know me, but we've occasionally edited the same pages as I am also interested in the history of British television, and I was wondering if you might be able to lend a hand with the Verity Lambert article, which I am currently trying to get up to featured article status. On its FAC page there have been some supporting votes, but also a couple of objections based around the quality of some of the prose. I have already had User:Josiah Rowe very kindly do a copyedit pass for me, but User:SandyGeorgia still has some concerns and has recommended that I get "a fresh pair of eyes" to have a look over it. As you've not, I believe, had anything to do with the article before but might be interested in the subject matter, I was wondering if you could possibly spare the time to give it the once-over? Many thanks. Angmering 18:57, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers for having a look at it, most kind of you! Angmering 23:07, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Price Is Right
Aahh, flattery :)) I have long abandoned the throne, though, and I am afraid I never had much interest in game shows. To further complicate the matters, there were no notability criteria for TV shows in place when I used to work on years in television, so I have no idea whether the additions above were helpful or not. Sorry!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 00:18, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deal or no deal
Hi - I notice you've done a number of edits to the page Deal or No Deal (UK game show). I'm a bit concerned at the way the article is put together, and have added some tags to the top of the page and put a comment in the talk page. As I'm not an expert on the subject, and have not had anything to do with putting it together, I'd quite like the opinion of those that have, if you could spare a moment or two. Thanks. --John24601 16:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
