Hi, my name is Eli Bildirici. I am a practicing Orthodox Jew and have lived in the Syrian Jewish Community in Brooklyn, NY/Deal, NJ for 19 years (all my life).

My background, however, is for the most part not Syrian. Both of my parents are from Istanbul, hence the non-Syrian last name. My mother's parents are both Ladino/Spanish Jews from Istanbul, my father's father is from present-day Gaziantep (where customs follow those in Aleppo) and my father's mother grew up in Beirut. My father's parents, first cousins and numerous relations still live in Istanbul, and I have visited them fairly often and maintain a strong connection to 'the old country'.

I am a graduate of the Yeshivah of Flatbush elementary and high schools in Brooklyn, and am currently a sophomore at NYU's College of Arts and Science, majoring in History and Computer Science. I'm coming to Wikipedia now to create my own wikiality...but really because I wanna leave my mark on such a useful and dependable resource.
