Bilsthorpe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bilsthorpe is a village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 3,076. It is about five miles south of Ollerton, and near the junction of the A614 and A617. The village has 2 children's play-parks. These are often neglected but recently a park situated in the new village has been improved with an obstacle course, new swings, and new tarmac. The village also has a medium sized duck-pond. The types of ducks are numerous. Most of the housing in the village is sub-standard; this is due to high unemployment and has led to urban deprivation. Most of the people live below the poverty line.

Construction is underway in the village as new properties are being built on the way into the village as approached from the Southwell / Newark direction, and the village's asthetics have been improved with the addition of a newly built surgery.
