Billy the Kid (Charlton Comics)

Billy the Kid is the name of a western comic book series published from 1955 to 1983 by Charlton Comics. A total of one hundred and fifty-three issues saw print.
For its first eight issues it was published under the name Masked Raider.

Under this title the series began publication with a cover date of June, 1955. Masked Raider would be its title until 1957 when the change to the name Billy the Kid occurred.

Issue #9 (dated November 1957) would be the series first under its new title. The series presented stories featuring a fictional character based on the historical Billy the Kid.
Twice it was put under publication hiatus. The first period was from January to August, 1977 and the second was from November, 1977 to January, 1978.
