Billy Manual Ashley (Born July 11, 1970) in Trenton, Michigan, is a retired Major League Baseball outfielder.
Ashley played for two different ballclubs during his 7 year Major League career: the Los Angeles Dodgers (1992-1997), and Boston Red Sox (1998). Ashley signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays prior to the 1999 season, but failed to make the Major League roster. He made his Major League Baseball debut on September 1, 1992, and played his final game on July 30, 1998.
Throughout his Minor League career, Ashley was a highly touted power-hitting prospect. However, his success in the Minors was not transferred to the big league level, and he would not accumulate a batting average higher than .237, or hit any more that 9 home runs in a season.
His career concluded with 144 total hits, and 236 total strikeouts.
