Bill Mitchell (born March 29, 1960, Decatur, Illinois) is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 87th district where he has served since 1999.

Bill Mitchell is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University in 1982, B.A. in Political Science; Decatur City Councilman; Former Macon County Republican Chairman; Sponsored curfew laws and made efforts to cut government waste, reduce taxes and institute juvenile justice reform; Mayor Pro Tem 1997-1998.

An August 30, 2003 newpaper article in the Bloomington Pantagraph [1] stated that Illinois State Representative Bill Mitchell was [2] scheduled to appear in McLean county court after being arrested for DUI This incident happened near Heyworth, Illinois. Representative Mitchell was [3] also charged with improper traffic lane usage in McLean County, Illinois. This arrest and both charges took place on 8/29/03 at 1:33 a.m. The McLean County Sheriff's report indicated that Representative Bill Mitchell's breath-alcohol level was 0.186 percent, which is more than twice [4] Illinois legal BAC limit of .08. Subsequently, Representative Mitchell plead guilty to both the DUI and improper traffic lane usage charges on Thursday September 25, 2003 and was [5] sentenced to 24 months of court supervision.
