Joyce started his career at Greenock Morton before moving to England and Bolton Wanderers in 1884, where he suffered a broken leg in 1896.
Joyce played for Tottenham, scoring 26 goals in 38 games, before joining Thames Ironworks for the 1999-1900 season (the club's last season before becoming West Ham United).
