Bildeston is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England, about five miles north of Hadleigh. According to Eilert Ekwall the meaning of the village name is Bild's homestead.The Domesday Book records the population of Bildeston in 1086 to be 29. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 1,011.
