I don't agree with you regarding TRNC. Expatkiwi

well obviously Bigkev

I don't agree with you regarding TRNC because the Turkish Cypriots are people too and they deserve to live in peace and security. Expatkiwi

Being a flag collector, I do have various NZ flags (National Flag, Civil Air Ensign, etc) as part of my collection and I have served under the flag as a RNZAF member. I do like the current New Zealand flag, but I also feel that it must evolve in order to reflect New Zealand's political reality (that it is not a colony of Great Britain). Expatkiwi P.S. God Bless the USA

Firstly i agree the Turkish Cypriots should live in peace and security and i have nothing against Turkish Cypriots, but does that justify an invasion from their motherland? Secondly Hawaii was never a British colony yet it has a Union Flag on its state flag. Bigkev
You are right, It does not justify an invasion from Turkey even after the Constitutional government of Cyprus was restored. Now, as a member of the EU, Turkey has no justification to fear Nicos Sampson (who is dead) and Greek-Cypriots (who cherish the independence of Cyprus). The Treaty of Guarantee was violated by Greece(military government at that time) and Turkey and is still in continuous violation by Turkey today. The initial military intervention may have been justified, but the first cease fire violation and subsequent and continual occupation and expulsion of populations is not. (UNFanatic)

Considering what the goal of the Greek-backed Cypriot coup was and what Nicos Sampson wanted to do to the Turkish Cypriots once enosis had been acheived, I believe that Turkey was fully justified in their intervention. By the way, I did not choose the Turkish side of this issue lightly. In the final analysis, I believe that the military intervention did save lives and put a stop to the intercommunial violence that had been raging on Cyprus since 1963. Expatkiwi +

By the way, since the prevailing mood in New Zealand is not to change the National Flag, I really do not think that you have anything to worry about.

By the way, heres a template you may like:

I always wondered how you - being so pro-Irish - wish to retain the present New Zealand flag which - after all - does depict the Union Jack.... Expatkiwi

To be honest so have i sometimes. i only wish to keep the current flag because i don’t like any of the alternatives.

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Rhodesia

Hi! Just thought of this! With the proliferation of national WikiProjects, even one for Austria-Hungary, 90 years gone, do you think you could network enough Rhodies to justify such a project as this? See Wikipedia:WikiProject Burma/Myanmar if that sounds worthwhile. CheersChris 18:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
