Lyrical style
Najee's lyrical style is basically straight-forward. He spends his time of getting down to the point of his songs rather than thinking of punch-line after punch-line(although there are several of them in his songs). All his songs are written without beats, so he is able to change the flow and tempo of his lyrics anytime he wants to, usually starting off with an old school flow, then changing it to sound more like today's rap songs. His rap style is good, however, he still lacks freestyling ability. The only time he freestyles is when he is trying to think of lyrics for his songs. Because his memory is so bad, he tends to forget his lyrics at times, but when he does spit his lyrics, his delivery is powerful, despite his constant mumbling. He is influenced by rappers such as Ice Cube and Run DMC. Here is a verse from his 2006 song, "Droppin the Beat":
Now Im in the booth gettin savage like in animal.
Hyped up, the mike up. Im crazy like Hannibal. I bring that hot fire, spittin' flames like a candle.
Jee's in the buildin', he's a force yall cant handle.
Hip hop extrodinaire. Rhymin' for 5 years.
When people wanna listen, I spit my verses to open ears.
Yeah...
I be droppin the beat.
Tryin to keep my hood status, get my spot on the streets.
If anybody tries to challenge me, I'll fight for it.
And you 'ont need to ask a question cause Im right for it.
