Big Sky Resort is a ski resort located in the Rocky Mountains in Big Sky, Montana, owned by Boyne USA Resorts. Big Sky has grown over the last 30 years into a large ski resort. There is also a golf course and tennis courts at the resort. Due to its large size, with over 150 runs, ski lift ticket prices have risen to $65. Big Sky shares its largest mountain, Lone Peak, with nearby Moonlight Basin.
[edit] Resort History
The resort was the idea of NBC Newscaster Chet Huntley and was opened in December of 1973. Boyne USA Resorts purchased the resort in 1976. In 1995 construction of the Lone Peak Tram, which shuttles 15 passengers at a time to an elevation of 11,166 ft, was completed and the tram was opened for public use.
