Big Sky' is an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. It was formed in 1993 as students at the University of Florida. In 1995, working with producer/engineer Jim DeVito, they released their first album, Wide Open World. Two years later, they released a second album, Turn again working with DeVito that helped them gain a devoted following in Florida. 1999 saw the release of Light Hum Serenade, which added drummer Sean Crowley and saxman Dave Kurzman to the band's lineup further increase their popularity. They quickly grew to become one of the top drawing independent and unsigned rock bands in the Southeast. Their powerful live show was showcased in 2000's Live At The Sapphire: Under The Megawatt Moon which was recorded live in Orlando, Florida. 2001 came "By Design" and the hit single of the same name. After many more years touring, in 2003, Big Sky released what would be their final studio album. This Mostrosity which spawend the radio hits "David Bowie" and "Cellophane". Their most recent release is 2005's New Old Stock which contains 17 live and rare cuts covering "Big Sky's" entire career, produced and compiled by Michael Grosvenor.

Since the release of their last album, bassist Ashton Allen has released one solo album; 2005's Dewdrops (Livewire Recordings). Currently, Ashton Allen can be seen playing shows around the country.

Lead singer Mark Gaignard is also readying the release of the new album from his new project "The Also Ran". Their disc is set for a 2007 release.
